PSEC application essay

The motto that Puget Sound Early College lives by, “Be the change you wish to see in the world”, is a direct quote from Mahatma Gandhi and the motto fits me very well. I have spent many hours helping different people in the community, and enjoy doing itvery much. I can relate to PSEC through the classes, projects and community service I have previously been involved in at my High School. Although, I believe transferring to Puget Sound Early College will be a very positive change for me and I will have more opportunity to better myself, the school, as well as our community.I have done many different community service projects, my favorite way to help out the community is to get physically involved and put time into somewhere that could really use the extra help and cant really afford to hire anyone. I take great pride in dedicating my time and hardworking ethics to lend a hand out to other people. I have worked over four hundred hours of non-paid work at Space Age Daycare/Preschool, which has been my favorite place of work so far. I have had so much fun working with the children and learning about their development. I have had nothing but positive experiences there. After volunteering at the daycare for a year I have developed great relationships with the children, the other teachers, and I am now certified in CPR,First Aid Training, and HIV/Blood Borne Pathogens prevention. I have also donated my time at the Auburn Food Bank as well as the Tacoma Food Bank on several different occasions. Another community service project I have been involved in is the Toy RescueMission, which is a program that is all volunteer run to help disadvantaged children receive donated toys. I am very willing to do anything and everything I can to continue to contribute to the community. I truly believe that PSEC can help me do that. I have already done many things to try to do my part in changing the world and every little thing I do getsme that much closer. I suppose I have a better advantage of relating some of my high school experiences to Puget Sound Early College because I attend Truman High School and I have found out that there are many similarities that the two schools share, so I wont have to deal with too much adjusting. For example; calling all your teachers by their first name, small classes and a small school, and working outside of the school and in the community. But there are also a lot of differences that makes meexcited about PSEC. The challenge makes me especially eager, the mature environment, and the fact that I can get a great deal more out of PSEC.I will contribute to Puget Sound Early College because I am a hardworking, very self motivated student, who enjoys doing community service. I am more patient because of community service. I appreciate what I have more because of community service. I also appreciate hard work. I am dependable and always put 100% into anything I do. I finish everything I start and love challenging myself.I hope to be accepted to PSEC, to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity that has nothing but positive outcomes for my future. Albert Mensah, a professional speaker, author and coach once said, “Opportunities in this changing world are everywhere but they are invisible to the person who is not clear what it is that they want”. I know what I want, and it’s clear to me that I want a good future for myself.
