Cruelties of the Spaniards

In this passage the author claims he was an eye-witness to an uncountable number of cruelties done by the Spaniards. Although I myself was not an eye-witness I strongly agree with him about the cruelties. The Spaniards tortured and abused the Indians with weapons that were never heard of or even imagined by the Indians. The Indians never hurt or treated the Spaniards badly but only believed that they were gods. The only motivation that they had to mistreat the Indians was gold and power. The Spaniards had no mercy, they killed everyone, not caring about the age, sex, or weather they fought back or not. They put up big boards and hung the Indian people, someone them they cut and left them hanging by the skin alive, they also burned them with stove like griddles. They even went as far as gagging their own men for being too noisy and then executing them. The Spaniards were brutal, malicious, and all about power. To be perfectly honest I am so glad that I wasn't there to witness that first hand.

My Writing Philosophy

My writing philosophy is to write about your own beliefs and opinions. You have to make your own choices and be your own person so why shouldn't your writing be your own thoughts as well. You can listen or read about what someone else thinks or says about a specific topic but you should always write about how you feel about it. When I get the chance to write about how I feel about a topic it makes it a lot easier and more enjoyable to write. I believe a lot of people can find themselves in writing, it gives you a better understanding of who you are.

Charles Deemer

Charles Deemer doesn't agree with the way our educational system teaches, with students sitting down in the back of the classroom listening (or pretending to listen) and teachers standing at the front of the classroom explaining. Charles see's education as an experience. He deeply believes in the English Composition course as the best way for our educational system to teach. Education shouldn't be a teacher preaching to a class, but more of a discussing between both the students and someone experienced in that subject. A student should never have to change their opinion because a teacher disagrees with them or has other beliefs

PSEC application essay

The motto that Puget Sound Early College lives by, “Be the change you wish to see in the world”, is a direct quote from Mahatma Gandhi and the motto fits me very well. I have spent many hours helping different people in the community, and enjoy doing itvery much. I can relate to PSEC through the classes, projects and community service I have previously been involved in at my High School. Although, I believe transferring to Puget Sound Early College will be a very positive change for me and I will have more opportunity to better myself, the school, as well as our community.I have done many different community service projects, my favorite way to help out the community is to get physically involved and put time into somewhere that could really use the extra help and cant really afford to hire anyone. I take great pride in dedicating my time and hardworking ethics to lend a hand out to other people. I have worked over four hundred hours of non-paid work at Space Age Daycare/Preschool, which has been my favorite place of work so far. I have had so much fun working with the children and learning about their development. I have had nothing but positive experiences there. After volunteering at the daycare for a year I have developed great relationships with the children, the other teachers, and I am now certified in CPR,First Aid Training, and HIV/Blood Borne Pathogens prevention. I have also donated my time at the Auburn Food Bank as well as the Tacoma Food Bank on several different occasions. Another community service project I have been involved in is the Toy RescueMission, which is a program that is all volunteer run to help disadvantaged children receive donated toys. I am very willing to do anything and everything I can to continue to contribute to the community. I truly believe that PSEC can help me do that. I have already done many things to try to do my part in changing the world and every little thing I do getsme that much closer. I suppose I have a better advantage of relating some of my high school experiences to Puget Sound Early College because I attend Truman High School and I have found out that there are many similarities that the two schools share, so I wont have to deal with too much adjusting. For example; calling all your teachers by their first name, small classes and a small school, and working outside of the school and in the community. But there are also a lot of differences that makes meexcited about PSEC. The challenge makes me especially eager, the mature environment, and the fact that I can get a great deal more out of PSEC.I will contribute to Puget Sound Early College because I am a hardworking, very self motivated student, who enjoys doing community service. I am more patient because of community service. I appreciate what I have more because of community service. I also appreciate hard work. I am dependable and always put 100% into anything I do. I finish everything I start and love challenging myself.I hope to be accepted to PSEC, to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity that has nothing but positive outcomes for my future. Albert Mensah, a professional speaker, author and coach once said, “Opportunities in this changing world are everywhere but they are invisible to the person who is not clear what it is that they want”. I know what I want, and it’s clear to me that I want a good future for myself.
